President Prabowo Subianto reminded the ranks of political party chairmen and politicians about the substantive meaning of politics, namely the desire to improve the lives of the people.
At the party congress in Surakarta, Central Java, Sunday (20/7) evening, President Prabowo also invited all politicians to reflect on the substantive meaning of politics, and not to get caught up in the normative meaning of politics.
"So, fellow politicians, you may choose a normative, formal definition, but it should be driven by a more substantive, more meaningful understanding of politics, namely the drive and the desire to improve the lives of the people. That is the true meaning of politics," Prabowo said before the chairmen of political parties and politicians from various parties in Surakarta, Central Java, on Sunday.
Prabowo then explained that normative politics is limited to a system that divides power and regulates government. According to Prabowo, such an understanding of politics is shallow and misses the point of politics, and the true purpose of politics is to improve the welfare and standard of living of the people.
