The King of Belgium describes the situation in Gaza as a "shame on humanity," and Germany criticizes the aid distribution mechanism.

The King explained that civilians in Gaza are suffering from hunger and bombardment, noting that the prolonged status quo is a disgrace to humanity. He noted that Israel has closed all crossings into the Strip since March 2, 2025, preventing the entry of food and medical aid, causing a famine.

King Philippe called on UN Secretary-General António Guterres to intervene immediately to end this crisis, which he described as "unbearable."

King Philippe stressed that human dignity must remain above political considerations, emphasizing the need for Europe to commit to protecting human dignity through respect for international law and human rights.

Separately, the German government criticized the aid distribution mechanism provided to Palestinians through the so-called "Gaza Humanitarian Foundation" on Monday, describing it as insufficient and inconsistent with humanitarian principles. In response to a parliamentary question from the Green Party, the government explained that this mechanism does not adequately reach the civilian population and does not operate in accordance with humanitarian principles.

The German government noted that the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip has become unbearable, calling for the alleviation of the population's suffering and the improvement of the situation in accordance with international humanitarian law. It also warned of deaths among those attempting to obtain aid and demanded a comprehensive explanation of these incidents as soon as possible.

The German government affirmed Israel's responsibility to adhere to international humanitarian law and protect Palestinian civilians, and called for facilitating the resumption of aid distribution and ensuring the ability of the United Nations and humanitarian organizations to carry out their duties independently and impartially.

In related developments, the Government Media Office in Gaza announced on Sunday that the number of Palestinians killed while attempting to reach US-Israeli aid centers had risen to 995, with 6,011 injured and 45 missing since May 27.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported on Sunday that Israel's starvation policy has led to the deaths of 86 Palestinians, including 76 children, due to malnutrition. The government media office warned that the Strip is on the verge of "mass death" after more than 140 days of closed crossings.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a war of genocide in Gaza, including killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, ignoring all international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt it.

The US-backed genocide left approximately 200,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 9,000 missing, in addition to hundreds of thousands of displaced persons and a famine that claimed the lives of many. For 18 years, Israel has been besieging Gaza, and approximately 1.5 million Palestinians, out of a population of approximately 2.4 million in the Strip, have been rendered homeless after the genocidal war destroyed their homes.
