The Ministry of Communication and Digital and the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center continue to strengthen collaboration in blocking bank accounts suspected of being misused for online gambling transactions in an effort to eradicate this illegal practice in Indonesia.
Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Viada Hafid stated that cutting off access to online gambling transactions is more efficient in providing a deterrent effect on online gamblers, while the government also consistently closes access to related content in the digital space.
"Content can be easily recreated, but accounts are difficult to reopen once blocked," Meutya said in a statement.
In terms of eradicating online gambling in the digital space, from October 20, 2024 to July 28, 2025, the Ministry of Communication and Digital has blocked access to nearly 2.5 million pieces of negative content, with around 1.7 million of them related to online gambling .
