The Israeli army radio reported: "72 soldiers were killed in operational incidents in the Gaza Strip, out of a total of 440 killed in the maneuver (ground battles), which is equivalent to 16% of the total number of deaths in the maneuver in Gaza."
The radio station explained that the "operational incidents" included work accidents, friendly fire, ammunition explosions, and internal run-over incidents.
She explained that "31 were killed in friendly fire incidents, 23 in weapons and ammunition incidents, 7 were killed after being run over by an armored personnel carrier, and 6 were killed in shooting incidents."
She noted that since the resumption of the aggression on Gaza on March 18, two Israeli soldiers have been killed in "operational incidents" within the Strip, out of a total of 32 killed during that period, representing approximately 6%.
She continued: "Among the total number of fatalities in operational incidents since the start of the exercise in Gaza, five died in various types of work-related accidents, such as the accident that occurred last night while working with engineering tools, and falls from a height."
In total, 882 Israeli soldiers have been killed and 6,032 wounded since October 7, 2023, according to data published on the Israeli military website.
The Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that since the start of the war on Gaza, the Strip has been the primary arena for the army's operations, even as it has carried out military operations in Syria, Lebanon, and the occupied West Bank, in addition to raids on Yemen.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with American support, has been committing genocide in Gaza, leaving more than 192,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, most of them children and women, more than 10,000 missing, and hundreds of thousands displaced.
