Local sources said that 39 Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip since dawn on Saturday.
In the northern Gaza Strip, four Palestinians were killed when warplanes bombed a building housing displaced people near the Islamic University in Gaza City.
Four Palestinian women, including a child, were killed and 10 others were injured when Israeli warplanes targeted a house in the al-Tuffah neighborhood, east of Gaza City.
In the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood of Gaza City, three Palestinians from the same family were killed and others were injured when an Israeli drone bombed an apartment in the Teachers' Building.
Two Palestinians were also killed in an Israeli bombardment that targeted a house in the Al-Rimal neighborhood of the same city.
In the central Gaza Strip, seven Palestinians were killed in two Israeli airstrikes on the city of Deir al-Balah, while two women were killed in an Israeli airstrike that targeted an apartment east of the city.
Around Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, three Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike that targeted a tent housing displaced persons.
In the Nuseirat refugee camp, a girl was killed and others were injured in an Israeli bombardment that targeted a house in the Al-Hasayneh area.
In the southern Gaza Strip, 11 Palestinians, including a woman and children, were killed when an Israeli warplane bombed tents housing displaced people near the Kuwaiti Hospital in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Yunis.
Two Palestinians were also killed in an Israeli bombardment targeting them in the Sheikh Nasser area, east of Khan Yunis.
Targeting the starving
The Israeli targeting of those waiting for aid in the Gaza Strip also included those queuing for it. Local sources reported that 21 Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire and approximately 50 others were injured while waiting for aid west of Rafah, in southern Gaza.
Far from the oversight of the United Nations and international organizations, Tel Aviv and Washington have been implementing a plan since May 27 to distribute limited aid. The Israeli occupation army has been firing on Palestinians queuing to receive aid, forcing them to choose between starvation or being shot.
As of Friday, the Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that the number of Palestinians killed while attempting to obtain US-Israeli aid near distribution centers since May 27 had reached approximately 788 martyrs and more than 5,199 injured.
Meanwhile, Israeli military spokesman Avichay Adraee issued a warning to Gaza residents in a statement via Telegram, saying, "We remind you that strict security restrictions have been imposed in the maritime area adjacent to the Strip, where entry into the sea is prohibited."
Adraee pointed out that the warning includes fishermen, swimmers, and divers, and that "entering the sea along the Gaza coast exposes you to danger."
This warning comes amid the worsening humanitarian crisis and deepening famine in the besieged Gaza Strip. A number of Palestinian fishermen have been risking their lives by venturing close to shore to catch small quantities of fish, either to feed their families or to sell them to generate a minimum income.
Death threatens 650,000 children
In the same context, the Government Media Office in Gaza said in a statement on Saturday: "After 133 days of the complete Israeli closure of the crossings, the risk of famine is growing, and hundreds of thousands of people are threatened with death, including 650,000 children under the age of five, out of a total population of 1.1 million in the Strip, amid shameful international silence."
The office added in a statement that "the occupation forces are closing all crossings and preventing the entry of food, medicine, and fuel, in one of the most severe crimes of collective siege in modern times."
He continued: "The famine afflicting the Gaza Strip is worsening day by day, and dozens of deaths have been recorded over the past three days due to shortages of food and essential medical supplies, in an extremely cruel humanitarian situation."
He pointed out that "the occupation is persisting in its crimes by preventing the entry of flour, baby milk, and nutritional and medical supplements, as part of a systematic policy to starve the population, especially children, and deprive them of the most basic necessities of life."
He explained that approximately 1.25 million people in Gaza are currently living in a state of catastrophic hunger, while 96% of Palestinians in the Strip suffer from severe levels of food insecurity, including more than one million children, a reality he described as "shocking."
Earlier on Saturday, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned of "dire health consequences" in the Gaza Strip due to the lack of clean water and soap, overcrowded shelters, and the summer heat, amid the ongoing Israeli blockade.
Gaza's health system is suffering from a complete collapse due to Israel's deliberate targeting of the remaining functioning hospitals and health centers in the Strip, and its denial of the entry of medicines, medical supplies, and equipment.
With full American support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, leaving more than 195,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, in addition to hundreds of thousands displaced.
