Two Indonesian representatives fall in 2025 Women's Chess World Cup





 Two Indonesian chess players WIM Shafira Devi Herfesa and Evi Yuliana were eliminated in the first round of the 2025 Women's Chess World Cup held in Batumi, Georgia after losing to their respective opponents in two knockout matches.

Shafira Devi Herfesa (rating 2167) had to admit the superiority of IM Nurgyul Salimova (rating 2385) from Bulgaria in two straight games.

After losing with the white pieces on the 59th move in the first game on Sunday (6/7), Shafira was defeated again in the second game on Monday (7/7) when playing Benoni defense with the black pieces.

She surrendered on the 34th move, making the final score 0–2 for Salimova who is a finalist of the championship in the 2023 edition.
