The US State Department said in a statement that the approved deal includes more than 7,000 Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) guidance kits of two different types.
The statement added, "The United States is committed to Israel's security, and it is in America's national security interest to assist Israel in developing its defense capabilities and maintaining them strong and ready," and claimed that "this proposed deal is consistent with those goals."
The approval of the potential deal comes a week after President Donald Trump declared a ceasefire between Israel and Iran following 12 days of fighting between the two adversaries.
