Tijuana, May 8.- 1,398 adults and 210 minors were rescued in different states across the country on May 6, the National Migration Institute (INM) reported in a statement; 262 migrants were rescued in Baja California.
Of the minors, 52 were traveling alone, the rest (158) were accompanied by a family member or guardian.
The minors were placed under the guardianship of the System for the Comprehensive Development of the Family (DIF) in the state where they were rescued.
Of the total number of migrants rescued, 374 occurred in Chiapas; Baja California, 262; Nuevo León, 199; Mexico City, 168; Tabasco, 152; Coahuila, 111; Tamaulipas, 97; Veracruz, 50; San Luis Potosí, 47; Quintana Roo, 26; Sonora, 22; Oaxaca, 20; Puebla, 18; Chihuahua, 18; Durango, 17; Tlaxcala, 8; Yucatán, 6; Jalisco, 5; Zacatecas, 5; Sinaloa, 2; and Colima, 1.
From Angola, 8; Bolivia and North Macedonia, 7, respectively; India, 6; Bangladesh, 5; China, 4; Lesotho, 4; Bosnia and Herzegovina, 3.
Spain, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, Senegal, and Guinea, with two migrants from each country.
In addition, Romania, Georgia, Belize, Togo, Belarus, Cameroon, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the Ivory Coast, one person each.
