Mexicali, August 19. The fifth victim of heat stroke this season was confirmed this Tuesday: a 52-year-old woman who died at Mexicali General Hospital.
According to health authorities, the woman was rushed to the hospital for dehydration and died hours later.
On August 5, the fourth death from heat stroke was reported: that of Josué Roberto Enríquez, 38.
This year, heat stroke deaths have decreased dramatically.
During 2024, 47 people died from heat stroke.
Health Secretary Adrián Medina reported that 20 cases of heat stroke have occurred as of July, but most have recovered.
According to the coordinator of Civil Protection of Mexicali, René Rosado, nine temperature records have been broken in 2025 .
On August 7, a historic milestone occurred in Mexicali, as the thermometer reached a maximum temperature of 52.7 degrees Celsius .
