Aircraft with 300 kg of cocaine intercepted in Durango

Mexico City, November 13. Following an armed confrontation, the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena) intercepted a turboprop plane in Durango carrying more than 300 kilograms of cocaine. In just over a month, the Mexican Army and Air Force (FAM) have seized three aircraft carrying more than a ton of drugs.

The latest operation occurred last Saturday, when the Sedena's Comprehensive Air Surveillance System detected an aircraft from South America en route to enter national airspace, without fully identifying itself.

Therefore, he ordered the launch of three FAM aircraft to follow up, and the Heliborne and Ground Reaction Forces of the Army's territorial commands were also alerted.

Military radars revealed that the aircraft landed on a clandestine airstrip 14 kilometers from Tamazula, Durango, and FAM aircraft visually confirmed its location, prompting three helicopters carrying elements of the Helicopter Reaction Force to fly to the site, where they were met with gunfire.
