San Cristóbal De Las Casas, Chis., October 25.- More than 3,000 migrants , mostly Central Americans , arrived yesterday in the municipality of Huehuetán. In a telephone interview, the director of the Pueblos sin Fronteras group , Irineo Mújica , reported that the more than 2,000 who left Tapachula in a caravan on Saturday for Mexico City were joined by nearly 1,000 between that same day and Sunday.
Luis García Villagrán , director of the Center for Human Dignity , accused agents from the National Migration Institute ( INM ) of following the " caravan for justice, dignity, and peace " and waiting for the stragglers , who are all women and children . " Like birds of prey, they hunt them down, detain them, and put them in the kennels ," as the vehicles in which the agency transports intercepted foreigners are known.
He added: “Today, at the end of our journey to Huehuetán, a family was already being loaded onto the road, and we had an argument with members of the National Guard (GN). There was an agent wearing a very sophisticated INM uniform, approximately 1.90 meters tall, with a radio that broadcast everything in English; he never spoke, and other agents did the same, white-haired ones.”
" I think they are US agents hunting migrants , and their strategy is to somehow get the women and children out and then, after several days, catch the tired men ."
