BC Congress: Tire punctures are now considered prohibited weapons

Tijuana, June 24.- Instruments known as "tire punches" are now considered prohibited weapons, following the approval by the Plenary of Opinion No. 7 of the Justice Commission. The opinion, proposed by Representative Adrián Humberto Valle Ballesteros, aims to criminalize the illegal conduct of damaging the tires of vehicles traveling on public roads with sharp objects.

With 17 unanimous votes in favor, the amendment to Article 245 of the Baja California Penal Code was approved to prohibit the use of stars, caltrops, razor blades, hedgehogs, spikes, and other objects that could be used to obstruct traffic. This is because these objects are used to facilitate other crimes such as robbery and kidnapping.

Therefore, the safety of Baja Californians, the protection of their lives, and a dignified future are the reasons that prompted the representative to propose the reform. It also seeks to regulate human behavior in society through a legal framework.

The Commission considered this approach pertinent, considering that the State has seen an increase in criminal practices that jeopardize the safety of drivers on highways.
