BC has its first consultation for people with disabilities

Mexicali, February 28. This Friday, the Consultation of Persons with Disabilities was held simultaneously in all the state's municipalities.

The exercise was coordinated by the Special Commission chaired by local representative Michelle Tejeda and was accompanied by representatives from the Baja California State Electoral Institute (IEEBC).

People with disabilities, caregivers, civil associations, and other sectors submitted proposals to promote their participation and prevent any form of discrimination in the selection of candidates.

They also called for at least one representative with a disability in each party, as well as legal measures to remove barriers and protect their rights.

This amendment will ensure that political parties include people from this sector on their electoral lists.

During the consultation, other opinions were also gathered, which will serve as a basis for future legislative reforms that address their needs.
