Mexicali, February 1. In recent search operations for missing persons in the Tulichek Canal area , located west of Mexicali, 17 skeletons have been found, but they have not yet been identified.
Fidel Corvera Gutiérrez, director of the Missing Persons Unit of the State Attorney General's Office ( FGE ), mentioned that rib fragments, a skull, and other fragments that are too small to determine who they belong to have been found in the area because it is not possible to obtain DNA samples.
Due to the size of many of the fragments found, the genetics laboratory will perform mitochondrial DNA tests to obtain the sample and compare it with the database of relatives of missing persons.
The state official said he hopes that with this testing, they can obtain DNA samples to identify who the remains belong to .
