BPKN stated the need for regulations regarding unused internet quotas.

The National Consumer Protection Agency (BPKN) has stated the need to implement regulations regarding unused internet access quotas to clarify their status and management mechanisms.

"There must be specific derivative regulations and this cannot be allowed to continue. This is something that has caused public concern and we must find a solution," said BPKN member Jailani at the BPKN Office in Central Jakarta on Friday.

Jailani explained that the internet access quota purchased by consumers is basically a consumer right according to the provisions of the Law on Consumer Protection.

However, in practice, unused internet access quotas often simply expire.

"Because there are no regulations governing this, it's not clear yet," said Jailani.

"For example, if there's a standard clause that operators use as a reference, that standard clause is certainly based on regulations under the law. However, in my opinion, it shouldn't conflict with the Consumer Protection Act," he explained.
