Chairman of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) Raja Sapta Oktohari emphasized that the KOI member for the table tennis sport in Indonesia is only the Indonesian Pingpong League (IPL).
"There is only one table tennis sports organization in Indonesia that is a member of the Indonesian NOC and recognized by the ITTF, namely the IPL," said Raja Sapta Oktohari in a written statement quoted in Jakarta on Friday.
He said this in response to the polemic surrounding the organization of the table tennis sport in Indonesia.
The polemic over the table tennis branch has resurfaced with protests from the Executive Board of the All-Indonesia Table Tennis Association (PB PTMSI) against the emergence of the new IPL organization.
After experiencing dualism in management that lasted for more than 10 years, PTMSI again faced problems related to the existence of the organization, namely the emergence of a new organization, the IPL, which was proposed and recognized by the Indonesian International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) and has been accepted as a member of the KOI.
