Tijuana, October 2. The Caliente Ayuda Foundation has opened registration for the third edition of the five-kilometer race "Run Against Breast Cancer," which will take place on the 26th of this month to benefit the organization Turbantes Oncológicos.
Grupo Caliente's communications manager, Martina Martínez Miranda, announced at a press conference that the call is open to the general public and the goal is to raise awareness among both women and men "to get regular checkups to avoid diseases like cancer, one of the most deadly illnesses," she said, noting that according to statistics from the Ministry of Health, it is the leading cause of death among women.
In turn, the president of the Oncological Turbans Foundation, Lourdes López Moctezuma, confirmed that breast cancer is the main cause of patients admitted to the organization. She stated that "Tijuana receives many people from the interior of the country, and this increases the percentage of people admitted, on average, by 20 percent annually."
When mentioning the work carried out at the foundation, López Moctezuma stated that care goes "from the day one of diagnosis until, God willing, the treatment is completed in favor of the patient." In addition, "every woman who comes to us can receive the support that they often won't receive from other institutions." They offer free breast implants, oncological bras, wigs, and post-surgery support pillows, in addition to psychological care.
