The Boston Celtics have reportedly released forward Georges Niang to the Utah Jazz, and signed Chris Boucher with a one-year contract worth US$3.3 million.
According to the NBA website, quoted in Jakarta on Thursday, through a separate agreement, the Celtics sent Niang along with two future second-round picks to the Utah Jazz and in exchange received rookie RJ Luis Jr.
The move is seen as an effort by Celtics management to maintain their financial flexibility, especially to stay under the second apron limit in the NBA luxury tax rules, following the hiring of Boucher.
Chris Boucher is a power forward and was part of the Toronto Raptors squad that won the NBA championship in 2019.
