Tijuana, February 20. Jesús Nolberto Cárdenas Velázquez, better known as Chuy Montana , was allegedly murdered for performing sentimental songs "that his attackers didn't like," announced the head of the State Attorney General's Office (FGE), María Elena Andrade Ramírez, who ruled out that this case was related to a fight between drug cartels.
The Tijuana-born singer of corridos tumbados was murdered on February 7 after attending a party at a hotel in Playas de Rosarito, where 25 other people were present and alcohol and drugs were consumed .
Andrade Ramírez reported that during the meeting, a fight broke out because one of the guests asked Chuy Montana to stop singing songs he was performing, but the performer refused.
The young singer's attackers became angry and beat him, handcuffed him, and forced him into a car where they shot him . They later dumped his body on the Tijuana-Rosarito highway.
"These were actions that one of the attackers didn't like, and perhaps the situation was exacerbated by the state of intoxication and drug use they were in, because it's unusual for them to have taken his life for that," he explained.
Regarding the murder of Miguel Pavón , Chuy's friend and driver, Andrade Ramírez commented that he believes the investigation will follow a similar line, despite the fact that a message allegedly written by a criminal gang was found next to his body.
"As for the messages, they are being taken into account. Of course, we can't rule anything out, but they are also not decisive for the prosecutor's investigation because they can often be a distraction that diverts the investigation," he commented.
