Coparmex Mexicali denounces lack of transparency among council members

Mexicali, June 2.- In two transparency requests submitted by the Business Coordinating Council (CCE) regarding council members' expenses, the responses were opaque, contrasting with accountability.

This was expressed by the local leader of Coparmex, Octavio Sandoval López, who participated in a presentation of the results of information requests to the Mexicali City Council.

"What we're asking is that they not be cynical. They gave us answers like the council members did in the 1970s," he said.

The president of the CCE, Juan Manuel García Montaño, recalled that not all council members responded to the request that the monthly expenditure of 160,000 pesos for advisors and social spending be transferred to public security.

Sandoval López said that even independent council member Ismael Rodríguez was opaque in his responses, failing to include objective information from his advisors.

He questioned Morena councilwoman Sugey Rocha's response that information about her staff's ID cards is classified information.

He also criticized the fact that Councilman Sergio Tamai has high school-level advisors.
