West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi expressed the idea that defense industries in Bandung, such as PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) and PT Pindad, should move to the West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati area.
"Yesterday, I met with the President Director of PT DI, then communicated with the President Director of Pindad, and communicated with the Chief of Staff of the Air Force. The idea was the same: it's impossible, for example, for PT DI in Bandung to develop rapidly, while also facing runway limitations due to the dense population," said Dedi in Bandung.
This includes various challenges they face while remaining in Bandung, said Dedi, who has expressed this to various defense entities when he had the opportunity to communicate with them.
Dedi also admitted that he had the idea to shift the defense industry in Bandung City to Kertajati, and he even proposed moving the Air Force to Husein Sastranegara Airport.
"Starting with PT DI, Pindad, and Dahana, they're already in Subang. That's where the air force is located, and for example, the Husein Air Force will move to Kertajati. Because there's a lot of land there that's still expansive, state-owned land. Whether it's controlled by the Ministry of Forestry, Perhutani, or another ministry, what's clear is that it's state land," he said.
