Gibran wants education in Java and Kalimantan to be equal through People's Schools

Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka wants education in Java and Kalimantan to be equal, which can be realized through the government's priority programs, namely the People's School and the Garuda Unggulan School.

This was conveyed by Vice President Gibran in front of the Dayak tribe community during his working visit to meet with the Leader of the Tariu Borneo Bangkule Rajakng (TBBR) Red Troops Pangalangok Jilah or Panglima Jilah in Sepang Tokong Village, Toho District, Mempawah Regency, West Kalimantan.

"For those of you who don't know about Sekolah Rakyat, Sekolah Rakyat is a boarding school. Your child will stay overnight at the school, eat three meals a day plus snacks. All uniforms, shoes, bags, and school supplies are provided," Gibran said in his speech.

Gibran explained that the presence of the People's School in Mempawah Regency would be very beneficial for parents who cannot afford to send their children to school, especially if their homes are located far from urban areas and in remote areas.

In addition to the People's School, which will soon be synergized with the central government, the Deputy Minister of Social Affairs will also inspect the location in Mempawah where the Garuda Unggulan School will be built in 2026.

"The Deputy Minister of Social Affairs will visit here for a survey, so hopefully construction can begin next year. We want there to be a seamless education gap between Java and Kalimantan. Everyone can benefit from the central government's programs," Gibran said.

On that occasion, Gibran also warned the public to be careful in reading the news and not to easily believe fake news or hoaxes and news with negative narratives.
