The number of victims of disappearances has decreased over the past two years, according to Rosa Icela Rodríguez Velázquez, Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), during the morning press conference this Friday, chaired by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
The official reported that comparing December 2018 and July of this year , there was a 54 percent decrease in kidnapping victims, highlighting that the changes occurred with the start of the current administration.
However, the strategies implemented by the current government have not been sufficient, as violent incidents continue to occur in multiple parts of the country.
An example of this is the most recent kidnapping of a grocery store employee, who was abducted by two armed men. The incident became known on social media and became a national trend due to the shocking images.
