Mexico City, November 2.- The Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) published the declaration of natural disaster for the 47 municipalities of Guerrero affected by Hurricane Otis. This is a legal requirement for activating the resources of the Natural Hazard Emergency Response Program to assist the population affected by this storm.
The installation session of the Damage Assessment Committee was held yesterday, during which the Guerrero state government presented its request for a Natural Disaster Declaration.
“…through official document number PE/SPG/322/2023, dated October 27, 2023, signed by the Constitutional Governor of the state of Guerrero, Mtra. Evelyn Cecia Salgado Pineda and Minutes of the Permanent Extraordinary Session of the State Civil Protection Council of the state of Guerrero to request a disaster declaration for Category 5 Hurricane “Otis” dated October 27, 2023,” states the declaration published this Thursday in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF).
A disaster area is declared due to the occurrence of severe rain and strong winds on October 24, 2023 for the municipalities of Apaxtla, Arcelia, Chilpancingo, Cuetzala del Progreso, Eduardo Neri, Florencio Villarreal, General Heliodoro Castillo, Juan R. Escudero, Leonardo Bravo, Mochitlán, San Marcos, Tecoanapa and Tlapehuala.
