Mexico celebrated this Wednesday the reactivation of the negotiation and dialogue process between the government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Unitary Platform of Venezuela, which was signed in Mexico City on August 13, 2021, and facilitated by the Kingdom of Norway.
"Thanks to this, the Partial Agreement on the Promotion of Political Rights and Electoral Guarantees for All and the Partial Agreement for the Protection of Vital National Interests were signed today in Bridgetown, Barbados," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
At the event, the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Alicia Bárcena Ibarra, was represented by the Director General of American Regional Organizations and Mechanisms, Efraín Guadarrama Pérez; the President of the National Assembly, Representative Jorge Rodríguez, represented the Venezuelan government; and Gerardo Blyde represented the United Platform of that country. The Kingdom of Norway was also represented by the head of the facilitation team, Dag Nylander.
"Mexico, as the host country under the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2021, reiterates its commitment to neutrality and equality with the parties involved and expresses its confidence that through dialogue and negotiation, inclusive and sustainable solutions for the well-being of the Venezuelan people will be achieved," the statement said.
