Sulaiman Bay in Berau Regency, East Kalimantan, is an area that holds the charm of natural beauty, from the tranquility of mangrove forests to the clear blue sea.

To reach this area, visitors must travel overland from Tanjung Redeb, the capital of Berau Regency. The travel time is approximately five to six hours by four-wheel drive.

Even though the journey is quite long, the boredom will be forgotten because along the way you will be treated to a panorama of beautiful tropical forests, and as you approach Sulaiman Bay, the view of the stretching coastline becomes a pleasing backdrop for the eyes.

Sulaiman Bay offers a variety of natural attractions, from caves, lakes, estuaries, to a wealth of tropical flora and fauna. To explore the area, visitors can rent a motorboat or a local ketinting (motorized boat).

Local residents also provide tour guide services who will explain the observation points along with information about the biodiversity that can be found at each location.

During the trip through this area, ANTARA had the opportunity to visit several natural tourist spots that offer extraordinary panoramas, including Salo Buaya, the mangrove forest area, Muara Sisipan or known as Muara Penyu, and Sigending Besar Island.

The best time to explore the bay is in the morning or evening, especially on clear days. The views will be clearer and more captivating, and there's a greater chance of spotting Teluk Sulaiman's unique wildlife, such as turtles and the proboscis monkey, a species native to Kalimantan.
