Chairman of the Golkar Party faction in the People's Consultative Assembly and senior Golkar Party politician Melchias Markus Mekeng has asked those spreading rumors of an extraordinary national conference within his party to come forward to the public.
"If anyone wants to hold an extraordinary national congress, they have to show their face. If you want to engage in healthy politics, they have to show their face. Who wants to hold an extraordinary national congress, and why they need to hold one must be explained," Mekeng said at the parliamentary complex.
He dismissed rumors of plans for an extraordinary Golkar Party congress because the rumors circulated in public without a clear source.
Mekeng called the issue of the extraordinary national congress a hoax. "When we read about it in the media, we only hear rumors, but the source is never clear. So, in my opinion, it's fake news," he said.
Instead, he emphasized the solidarity of his party under the leadership of General Chairman Bahlil Lahadalia as General Chairman of the Golkar Party.
"We in the Golkar Party, under Mr. Bahlil's leadership, are calm," he said.
