"Illegal" Slovenia announces ban on imports of all Israeli settlement products

The government said the decision came at the request of Prime Minister Robert Gollop. The statement emphasized that Israel is committing serious and repeated violations of international humanitarian law, noting that these practices not only threaten the lives and dignity of the Palestinian people but also undermine the foundations of the international order.

The government explained that Slovenia, as a responsible member of the international community, refuses to be a party to a supply chain that contributes to or condones these violations.

For her part, Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon explained in a post on the X platform that the decision comes in urgent response to the deteriorating humanitarian and security conditions in the Gaza Strip.

Fagon described the move as symbolic, but one that carries a clear message about adopting economic measures aimed at pressuring for an end to the war and achieving stability in the region.

On July 31, Slovenia announced a decision banning the export and import of weapons to Israel, and prohibiting the transit of weapons through its territory to Israel.
