Tijuana, June 29.- The president of the National Association of Manufacturers of School and Office Supplies AC ( ANFAEO ), Diego Céspedes, made an urgent call to the Secretary of Public Education , Delfina Gómez, to publish the official lists of school supplies for the next cycle, with the intention of reactivating the sector seriously affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Céspedes Creixell explained that with the start of the next school year approaching, scheduled for August 30, and given that the distribution channel for these items is affected by school closures, it is urgent that they meet to establish a strategy for the return to classes.
The industry representative warned the federal official in a letter that the economy of the thousands of families who depend on seasonal sales of school supplies is at a critical point due to the health emergency and the resulting school closures.
"The paper industry's logistics system includes around 50 manufacturers that supply 350 wholesale distributors, who also supply thousands of retailers who ultimately position a wide range of school supplies in more than 100,000 points of sale nationwide, all of whom have been unable to receive their products due to the impact of COVID," he noted.
