In prisons, 256 people have died from Covid-19: CNDH; 34 in Baja California Sur

In its updated data on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the country's prisons, the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) reported that since the beginning of the health emergency and as of May 25, 3,418 confirmed cases of the disease and 256 deaths have been documented.

The infections have been recorded primarily in Mexico City prisons, with 1,638 cases; followed by Puebla, with 389; Chihuahua and Jalisco, with 132 each; and Guanajuato, with 113. Regarding deaths, the nation's capital leads the list with 55; followed by Puebla, with 38; Baja California, with 34; and Veracruz, with 29.

Likewise, the CNDH announced that more than 25,900 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in prisons, primarily in Baja California, with 12,809; Hidalgo, with 2,674; Guerrero, with 2,448; Chiapas, with 1,928; Coahuila, with 1,572; and Mexico City, with 881.
