Indonesia asks the EU to consider adopting the WTO panel's ruling on biodiesel.

Indonesia, through the Ministry of Trade , has asked the European Union to consider adopting the World Trade Organization (WTO) panel's ruling on the biodiesel or DS618 dispute.

"The government must ensure that this can be followed up with a scenario that favors Indonesia, because there are still several situations that must be examined (related to the WTO panel's decision)," said the Director General of International Trade Negotiations at the Ministry of Trade, Djatmiko Bris Witjaksono,.

Indonesia has successfully won a trade dispute against the European Union (EU) regarding the application of countervailing duties (CVD) on imports of biodiesel products from Indonesia, also known as the DS618 Dispute.

The WTO panel on Friday (22/8) announced that the EU had acted inconsistently with the provisions of the WTO Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures ( WTO ASCM).

Djatmiko said there were at least three options that Indonesia and the European Union could take to respond to the WTO ruling.

First, Indonesia and the European Union have 20-60 days, namely in the period from August 22 to October 22, 2025, to consider accepting/adopting the panel's decision or pursuing an appeal.
