Information bombardment changes young people's consumption habits

Mexicali, October 30. Younger generations in Mexico spend an average of six to eight hours a day online, a time during which they are constantly bombarded with information, which has led to a shift in the way they consume content.

“Twenty years ago , social media didn’t exist . Young people received information through conventional media: radio, television, newspapers, and the internet was just beginning to emerge. There wasn’t that immediate intercommunication between a company and its audience,” explained Bardo Agustín Limón Félix, coordinator of the Bachelor’s Degree in Strategic Marketing at the Center for Technical and Higher Education (CETYS) at the University, Mexicali Campus.

An example of these changes are television commercials , which used to last 30 seconds and retain the viewer's attention for that time, but now spots are much shorter, between five and 10 seconds.

Furthermore, streaming services have transformed entertainment consumption, offering seasons of a series that users can consume in a single day.
