Tijuana, October 7.- With only one abstention and 17 votes in favor, Juan Manuel Sánchez Rosales was appointed and sworn in as the new Secretary of Public Security of Tijuana during the first official session of the XXV City Council.
Mayor Ismael Burgueño's proposal, which was also recommended by the federal government, had only one abstention: that of Councilwoman Rogelia Arzola, a member of the Morena faction of the council.
Arzola asserted that it was not a vote against the secretary, but rather that he abstained because "a work plan was not presented."
For its part, the opposition in the council did not oppose the appointment, but they were emphatic in telling the new secretary that they will be closely monitoring his actions and performance in the coming months.
