Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Kaesang Pangarep made a pilgrimage and scattered flowers at the grave of the Proclaimer and first President of the Republic of Indonesia, Soekarno or Bung Karno, in Blitar City, East Java, Saturday.
"Today we visited the tomb of Bung Karno, our Proclaimer of Independence, in Blitar City. This series of events is part of our prayer service for our predecessors, the former presidents who have gone before us," said Kaesang.
During the pilgrimage, Kaesang also prayed for Bung Karno to get the best place in the sight of God Almighty.
"I hope that from our prayers, Bung Karno will get the best place from Allah SWT," he said.
The son of Indonesia's 7th President Joko Widodo said he idolized Bung Karno, who began his political career at a young age. This sentiment resonates with the PSI, which boasts many young politicians.
