Lackluster Tri salvages last-minute draw against Cameroon

The Mexican national soccer team came close to being beaten and earned a 2-2 draw against Cameroon in a warm-up match ahead of this week 's CONCACAF Nations League semifinal against the United States.

At Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, in front of 30,000 spectators, Cameroon took advantage of a mistake by El  Tri  in the 37th minute with a shot that Bryan Mbeumo sent from the right side of the goal into the center of the goal.

The African goal sparked the national team's offensive, which was triggered by Israel Reyes' goal as the first half expired (45+2).

The Cameroonians retook the lead in the 60th minute when goalkeeper Luis Ángel Malagón slipped the ball out of his hands as he tried to control a cross from Enzo Gianni Tchato Mbiayi, allowing Ekambi to tap it into the back of the net.

Meanwhile, the five minutes of extra time were overshadowed when a surprising cross shot appeared inside the area by Kevin Álvarez after receiving a pass from Henry Martín , after Cameroon lost the ball in the defensive zone, with which those led by Argentine Diego Cocca rescued the tie.

Moments before the match, the Mexican national team announced the absence of Carlos Acevedo , the goalkeeper whom coach Cocca had designated as the starter and who was injured during the warm-up.

The Santos goalkeeper suffered a right shoulder injury in practice, and after being examined by the national team doctor, the coaching staff called up América goalkeeper Malagón as an emergency substitute.
