Persijap Jepara coach Mario Lemos took the risk of his players receiving yellow cards because his team was instructed to play aggressively to win.
Persijap has received a total of 10 yellow cards in just two matches in the 2025/2026 BRI Super League. Six were picked up in the 1-1 draw with PSM Makassar in the first week, and four in the 2-1 win over defending champions Persib Bandung in the second week.
"Of course, there were too many cards, too many. But I think with the team we have, we have to fight. We have to be an aggressive team. Of course, (the yellow cards) were probably too many," Lemos said at a press conference after the match against Persib at Gelora Bumi Kartini Stadium
