Technology company Meta has temporarily halted recruitment of experts for its artificial intelligence (AI) division after restructuring the unit earlier this week, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal .
According to a TechCrunch release on Thursday (August 21), the hiring freeze came after Meta attracted more than 50 AI researchers and engineers from rival companies in a weeks-long hunt.
Recruitment for Meta's AI division was halted last week, but it's unclear how long the policy will last.
Meta told The Wall Street Journal that the hiring freeze was part of "basic organizational planning... after hiring people and doing annual budgeting and planning."
