Mexico City, September 20.- After the United States government announced that it will require foreign visitors to be fully vaccinated to enter its territory, Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard stated that they will seek to speak with Washington authorities on the matter.
In an interview, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ( SRE ) stated that Mexico's position is that all vaccines endorsed by the World Health Organization ( WHO ) should be universally accepted.
Regarding the possibility of fully reopening traffic on the northern border, the official noted that it will depend on the neighboring country's resolution of the new COVID-19 outbreak in the area.
"The problem we have with the famous Delta variant , which has had a significant impact, especially in the United States , is that if you look at the latest maps of the United States, they have seen a notable increase in the number, and many in the south, so that's why they can't open the border as planned at this time," he noted.
