Microsoft is reportedly discontinuing its document scanning app

Microsoft will reportedly discontinue its Microsoft Lens mobile document scanner service starting September 15, 2025, and will direct users to switch to the Microsoft 365 Copilot app.

Quoted from TechCrunch, Friday (8/8), based on the company's support document, Microsoft Lens will be removed from the Apple App Store and Google Play on November 15, 2025.

Users can still scan documents until December 15, 2025.

After that date, the scanning feature will no longer be usable, but previous scan results will still be accessible as long as the app is stored on the device.

Microsoft Lens was first launched in 2015 under the name Office Lens, developed from an app for Windows Phone devices.

This application allows users to convert notes, documents, receipts, business cards, or whiteboard doodles into various file formats, such as PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, or images, without a subscription model.

The app also features the ability to save scan results to Microsoft apps, online services, or the camera gallery, as well as filters to enhance image quality.
