Mexico City. Following the launch of the regularization program for used foreign cars, known as " chocolate cars , " 116,036 vehicles have been legalized in twelve states, Rosa Icela Rodríguez Velázquez, Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, reported today.
Presenting a report on this program during the morning press conference at the National Palace, he explained that since the regularization process began on February 27, 304,460 appointments have been scheduled , and 77 modules are in operation for this process, which will also begin in Puebla.
According to the latest figures, as part of the completed processes in Baja California, Baja California Sur, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Michoacán, Nayarit, Nuevo León, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tamaulipas, and Zacatecas, 290 million pesos have been reported to have been raised, which will be used to pave streets in the areas where the program was implemented.
The states with the highest number of registered vehicles are Sonora, with 25,513, followed by Chihuahua, with 21,377; Baja California, with 17,015; and Zacatecas, with 13,656.
The Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection also presented a report on the results of the Tianguis del Bienestar (Welfare Market), through which 4,664,772 goods have been distributed in remote communities since March 2021, when the program began.
