Premier League club Newcastle broke the club's transfer record by bringing in striker Nick Woltemade from German League club VfB Stuttgart this summer.
Quoted from the club's official website, Saturday, Newcastle tied Woltemade to a long-term contract, but no details were explained, and he wore the number 27 shirt with The Magpies.
Meanwhile, according to a tweet from Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano on Saturday, Newcastle spent 85 million euros or around Rp1.6 trillion to bring Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart.
Starting his professional football career outside his home country, Woltemade spoke about his happiness and how he decided to join Newcastle.
"I'm really happy to be at this amazing club. From the first contact, I felt the club really wanted me and had big plans for me," said Woltemade.
"It's a big step in my life to leave Germany, but everyone has welcomed me so well and it already feels like a family. I have a good feeling about this, based on my conversations with the head coach, that this is the right place to find my best skills," he said.
The 23-year-old added that he had watched Newcastle's matches on television several times and was looking forward to making his debut for the club.
Meanwhile, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe said the club was delighted to sign Woltemade and hoped the German could become a key player for the Magpies' front line.
"He fits the bill for our attacking options. He's strong in various areas, has technical qualities, and has already shown he's a real threat in one of Europe's top leagues," Howe said.
"But he's also still at an age where he has a lot of room to develop and grow here. Nick is a fantastic character too, and I'm really excited to welcome him to the group," Howe said.
