Mexico City, August 24, 2021.- A judge based in Almoloya de Juárez, State of Mexico, scheduled an initial hearing for this Wednesday for the appearance of Carlos Treviño Medina , who was appointed director of Pemex in November 2017, replacing José Antonio González Anaya.

The federal Public Ministry accuses the former official of receiving four million pesos as part of the bribes paid to approve the energy reform during Enrique Peña Nieto's administration.

According to the complaint filed by Emilio Lozoya Austin , which serves as the basis for this charge, the funds were allegedly sent by the Brazilian company Odebrecht to Mexican authorities and then transferred, on the orders of former Finance Secretary Luis Videgaray, to various public officials and legislators.

Emilio Lozoya Austin told the Attorney General's Office (FGR) that with the participation of his former chief of security, Norberto Gallardo Vargas , the funds were delivered to Treviño Medina.

The ministerial records mention Lozoya Austin's involvement, on Videgaray's orders, in the scheme of receiving, distributing, and allegedly giving bribes to legislators from various parties to approve the energy reform proposed by then-President Enrique Peña Nieto.

The resources that were delivered to the legislators, according to the statements of Emilio Lozoya, who is protected by the Attorney General's Office as a result of a negotiation for him to become a cooperating witness.
