London and Rio de Janeiro Olympic women's flyweight (50.8 kg) boxing champion Nicola Adams has called for equal pay for all female athletes at club level in British sports.
"The fight is not over because the pay gap and treatment of female athletes in most sports is staggering," said Nicola Adams, as reported by the Daily Mail, quoted in Jakarta, Thursday.
The 42-year-old is the first female boxer to become an Olympic champion after winning gold at London 2012 and a double title at Rio 2016 where she claimed a second gold medal.
Nicola retired in 2019 with an undefeated record and the World Boxing Organization (WBO) women's title. Since retiring, she has continued to highlight the pay inequality of female athletes in British sports clubs.
