Palestinian runner Alam Al-Amur was killed by Israeli shelling while trying to obtain aid.

In a Facebook post, the federation mourned Al-Amur, saying: "With deep sorrow and grief, the Palestinian Athletics Federation mourns the young runner, Allam Al-Amur, who was martyred."

The union explained that Al-Amur was killed while attempting to obtain food aid to combat what it described as "systematic Israeli starvation" against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, adding that he was killed "by a bullet to the head instead of carrying enough food to feed his family."

Al-Amur won the bronze medal in the 5,000-meter race for youth at the West Asian Championship.

In the same context, the head of the Palestinian Football Association, Jibril Rajoub, stated that the Palestinian sports movement has lost 774 martyrs since the beginning of the war, including 355 football players, 277 members of sports federations, and 142 scouts, in addition to 119 missing persons. Furthermore, 288 sports facilities have been completely or partially damaged, while the number of sports media martyrs has reached 15.
