Tijuana, July 15.- PAN councilwomen issued a formal call to halt the creation and hiring of honorary positions without regulation or transparency, and questioned the appointment of Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda's husband, Carlos Alberto Torres Torres, as Coordinator of Strategic Projects.
Outside the presidential offices at City Hall, Rosalva López Regalado, president of the PAN's Municipal Steering Committee, emphasized what she had said when the governor and her partner had their visas revoked: "These appointments cannot operate outside the law or without citizen oversight."
And while Torres Torres coordinated projects, Councilwoman Sandra Magaña Ríos explained that IMPLAN already exists for that purpose, an institute with trained technical staff that even continues to work with initiatives from previous administrations, with a very extensive project bank benefiting citizens.
"I would respectfully invite the authorities to thoroughly research their own departments' projects, because there are many," Magaña Ríos added, referring to a project called 'Barrio Mágico' in the Libertad neighborhood, which plans to build complete streets for walkability, bike paths, and more.
