The Indonesian Athletics Association will field athletes from three national training camps in the 2025 National Athletics Championships in Solo, Central Java, as a warm-up for the 2025 SEA Games.
"The national training athletes who are participating here are in the U-18, U-20, and senior categories, and especially for the seniors, this is a warm-up for the SEA Games in December (2025)," said PB PASI Secretary General Tigor Tanjung to the media crew at Sriwedari Stadium, Solo, Saturday.
He explained that this national championship, the second to include the Indonesia U-18 Open Championship, featured athletes from five countries: Japan, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, and Timor Leste.
At the 2024 National Championships, the senior category was not contested, but only the U-16 and U-18 categories because it coincided with the year the National Sports Week (PON) was held in Aceh and North Sumatra.
Meanwhile, at this National Championship, Tigor continued, the senior, U-20, and U-19 categories were also competed, thus providing a momentum for senior athletes from the Pangalengan National Training Center in West Java to warm up for the largest multi-sport event in Southeast Asia in Thailand.
