Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are both monitoring the situation of Manchester United's young midfielder, Kobbie Mainoo, who has so far failed to get any playing time at the start of the 2025/26 English Premier League season.
This situation has given rise to speculation that one of the two Spanish giants is trying to sign the 20-year-old before the transfer window closes.
A report from SportingNews stated that Mainoo didn't feature in United's first two matches despite being fit. He only got a few minutes in pre-season, while manager Ruben Amorim relied more heavily on Bruno Fernandes in midfield.
This condition makes Mainoo's chances of playing regularly considered quite slim.
Following the 1-1 draw against Fulham, Amorim confirmed that Mainoo remains in direct competition with Fernandes for the midfield spot.
