Rinjani Color Run 2025 event, which traverses village and agricultural routes in Sembalun, East Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), has colored the running sport trend among Generation Z to Baby Boomers.
NTB Bureau Chief Abdul Hakim said the recreational sport featured a festival feel and the unique sprinkling of colorful powder, which made the running atmosphere even more lively.
"We've developed this colorful running concept so people can enjoy exercise in a fun way while also strengthening bonds," he said in East Lombok on Sunday.
Based on direct observations in the field, the recreational running participants were dominated by Generation Z, born between 1997 and 2012. They ran while capturing the moment on their mobile phones and sharing the excitement of the event on various social media.
One of the Rinjani Color Run participants, Gita Sari from Mataram City, said that the sprinkling of colorful powder with the background of hills and blue sky was a perfect combination of images to be immortalized through cellphone camera shots.
"For us, participating in the color run is fun because we can exercise while creating content for social media," said Gita.
Young participants consider the trend of running with a colorful festival feel to be a new lifestyle. The event is considered more relaxed than formal competitions, yet still offers physical and mental health benefits.
