Canyon Village, July 4. One person died and a Yellowstone National Park ranger was injured after a shooting occurred this morning at the site, park officials said.
A press release from the U.S. National Park Service indicated that rangers responded to a report of an individual with a firearm making threats Wednesday night, July 3, and this morning in Canyon Village, in central Yellowstone National Park.
The suspect, whose identity is unknown, died after an exchange of fire with park rangers, authorities said, adding that one of the rangers was injured but is in stable condition.
Although there is no longer an active threat to the public, the area around the scene is still closed while an FBI investigation is ongoing.
