Sony announced that as of June 30, 2025, total sales of the PlayStation 5 (PS5) console had reached 80.3 million units globally.
As reported by Engadget on Friday, this figure puts the PS5 right behind the Xbox 360 which recorded around 84 million units, and is getting closer to the PlayStation 3's record with total sales of around 87 million units throughout its lifetime.
Sony announced the data in its first-quarter financial report for fiscal year 2025. In the last three months, Sony managed to sell 2.5 million PS5 units, a slight decrease compared to the previous quarter, which recorded 2.8 million units.
